Luis Alberto González Cruz, president of the Mexican Chamber of the Construction Industry, said that with the elimination of the tariff on steel and aluminum, it could reduce the cost of works about 4-5%, the similar level as seen impacted in 2018 when the United States imposed this duty on both metals.
The president of the Mexican constructors commented that the rise in the cost of works was the same in the public area as in the private area; however, it should be recovered as the weeks advance.
The leader also added that not to expect increases in the prices of raw materials for construction in the rest of the first half of the year.
