Philippines to implement import product safety certification-The 20th China (Guangzhou)Int’l Fastener & Equipment Exhibition

It was reported that the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) of Philippines recently announced that public health and environmental safety will be listed as import product safety certification, including home appliances, lamps and related items, wires and cables, construction materials, chemical consumables and particular steel.
According to government regulations, material safety certification must be marked on the product license. Local manufacturing and imported products can be applied for certification, and will be processed according to annual audit of factory.
DTI will ensure that products in local market are inspected and approved, and supervise all relevant transactions by local and provincial offices. Violation of suppliers will involve criminal proceedings. Philippine Iron and Steel Institute (PISI) has requested the government to address random sale of illegal and uncertified rebar in the market.
